I think this is a brilliant idea, as I always try and travel without hold luggage anyway. Ryanair are just great.

I'm not sure this is great. I to normally only travel with carry on luggage. But I think that most people are not ready for that transition yet. Maybe if Ryanair was focused as a short route bussiness jet. But imagine all those people that normally get upset at airports, it normally the people with the most luggage. If this makes them choice other airlines, then I'm all for it. But I think they'll rather do what they already does best, complain and wrack havoc. Imagine ten angry turist on their first trip since the 70s when they are in the que a head of you, all screaming about this outragious 'new' charge.

Well, yes you are right about people causing trouble, because of luggage. Everytime I have been stuck in a check-in queue, it's always people arguing about their baggage allowance.
But I reckon that as long as Ryanair make sure everyone knows about the charge, then hopefully people with tons of luggage will just choose another airline, and we won't have to show up at the airport 3 hours before, just because people take so much crap with them on holiday.
