Guess the Animal

To mark the launch of the third Angry Beaton Gallery, I bring to you a 'Guess the Animal' competiton. Simply tell me the name of this animal, and you will win.
I don't mean the name of the animal, like 'Fred', but rather what species of animal is it? Incidentally, the animal is not called Fred.

This animal is found in Central America, hence he/she/it is to be found in the Central America Gallery

Note that there is no actual cash prize for naming this animal, only the sheer unadulterated joy of animal knowledge.
